Personal Advocacy

While lending support to organizations such as these is important, perhaps the most vital bicycle advocacy is one that you take on personally. That's why we at CSG encourage you to ride a bike whenever you can.

Ride for pleasure. Ride for self-reliance. Ride to save money. Ride for the good of the planet, using your bike for both transportation and recreation.

Please...ride your bike and help CSG support others who do the same.

Advocacy

Our Mission

Pick your route to work, to school, or to the grocery store. Ride along the street, waving to pedestrians and grinning wildly with the pleasure of riding a bicycle.  Ride your bicycle for the good of the planet, using it for transportation and recreation. Ride your way to freedom from high oil prices. Ride for self-reliance. Please... ride your bike and help us support others who do the same.

Spreading the word about bikes – their health and environmental benefits, and even how bikes can empower and improve entire communities – is one of CSG's continuing goals. Cycling Sports Group is proud to support the following organizations and their efforts to strengthen the bicycling community and bicycle advocacy. Bikes Belong

CSG supports Bikes Belong and its mission to get more people riding bicycles more often. In fact, CSG has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the efforts of this coalition of more than 350 bicycle suppliers and retailers. Since its founding in 1999, Bikes Belong has successfully harnessed the collective power of the U.S. bicycle industry to accomplish more than any single bike company could by working independently.

Bikes Belong strives to make bicycling better in America by:

  • Working with the federal government to maximize federal funding for bicycling
  • Awarding grants to help create more and better places to ride
  • Sponsoring programs to help cities and towns become more bicycle-friendly
  • Promoting bicycling to get more people riding
  • Cultivating cooperation throughout the bicycle industry

People for Bikes

Imagine one million people signing a petition in support of a better future for bicycling in the United States. Cycling Sports Group has partnered with Peopleforbikes.org, a Bikes Belong movement, to make that happen. We want our voices to be heard . By sending a unified message to our elected leaders, the media, and the public, we can tell them that bicycling is important. With your help, we can ensure that our sport is properly promoted, funded and supported. The result? More rider friendly communities, bike lanes, bike paths to ensure safety and fitness for all of us.

With your help, Peopleforbikes.org hopes to enlist 250,000 supporters in 2010-a big milestone on its way to 1 million strong.

With your help, we can make traveling and having fun on a bicycle part of every person's daily life.

International Mountain Bicycling Association

The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) is a non-profit educational association whose mission is to create, enhance and preserve great trail experiences for mountain bikers worldwide. Cannondale was one of the first sponsors of IMBA, in 1991, and the Cycling Sports Group is proud to continue that support.

CSG's generous support of IMBA helps ensure that mountain bikers everywhere will continue to have the land-access rights and quality trails to help make the sport enjoyable for more people.

Ripon College's Velorution

In 2008, Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin, provided Cannondale F9 hardtails as a permanent gift to incoming freshman students who pledged not to bring a car to campus. The bicycles, painted with custom Ripon College Red Hawks colors and logos, are part of a school program called The Velorution.

After the inaugural year of the program, the college tore out two roads that bisected campus and put in a paved pathway. The campus makeover created a learning environment that is pedestrian- and cycling-friendly, and encouraged a healthier student body. CSG is proud to support a progressive, forward-looking institution like Ripon with bicycles that solve today's real-world challenges.
